Vintage Christmas Monday

Welcome to the last installment of Vintage Christmas Monday.  This has been such a fun party!  Thanks to Joan @ Anything Goes Here for being our fabulous host.  I have definitely found a vintage-loving group of fellow bloggers and I have really enjoyed being a part of the party.

Believe it or not, I have run out of vintage Christmas items to show.  So today I am posting a couple of pictures of my favorite "vintage" people (and they said it was OK to call them that) parents.  My Mom and Dad both turned 80 this year and they have been married for 56 years.  This first picture is of their 1st Christmas together in 1953.

And this picture is of them last year opening up one of their presents.

Merry Christmas Mom and Dad!

And a very Merry Christmas to everyone that I have "met" and come to know through my blog.  I started this blog to share some of my ideas and projects never knowing that I would meet so many wonderful people along the way.  I appreciate all of your comments and support these past few months and look forward to sharing more projects and gathering more ideas from all of you in 2010.

Happy Holidays!

  1. i too am running out of things to show. I think next year I will only do 4 weeks and end a week early!. What do you think?

I love the early and now picture of your "vintage" parents!

Thank you so much for participating in the VCM party!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    xo Joan, your hostess

  2. How precious and heart warming to see photos of your parents. Thank you for sharing. I have only been blogging since November, but I find it so rewarding to be able to write about my crafts, decorating and family memories. It is like I am sharing with girlfriends all over the blogging universe. It is fun. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  3. I can believe that you ran out of vintage (I had difficulty, too.) But I love the old black and white photo. In fact, while seeing a few others throughout the blogs, I though to myself, "These look just like OUR family picture!" I had to take a second look to be sure it wasn't US. It was a peculiar feeling. Don't know if I expressed it right or not....

Merry Christmas to you and your precious mother and father. (I am blessed to have both of mine still living, too - age 83.)

  4. Such sweet photos!! Love the then and now. They are still, after all the years, a beautiful couple.

  5. Great pictures, Jane! I love the first Christmas picture and this most recent ~ God bless them! Have a Merry Christmas!

  6. Your parents look very cute! So huggable. I love seeing the before and after shots. And how cool that they were fine with being called "vintage." They sound so sweet. Thank you for sharing these photos. They brought a smile!

  7. That old picture of your parents in front of the tinsel-laden tree is a classic!I kinda miss tinsel, don't you?!
Happy VCM and I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, Jane!

  11. Hello Jane,
How sweet to show us a picture of your Mom and Dad in the early days and now. They are both so cute. You are so fortunate to still have them with you.
May you have a wonderful Christmas with your family.

  12. Merry Christmas to you, too!

I love the photos. I'm delighted to see a tree with tinsel!

I refuse to give up my beloved tinsel! Christmas just doesn't seem to to be Christmas without it. Of late, though, I've had to resort to getting it online! :)

  13. Not sure if I have ever commented here before, but just had to say what an incredible blessing your parents must be! You must know how very fortunate you are to still have them around, and so obviously happy together!

  14. Your parents are adorable. The tree in the picture takes me waaaaay back to when I was a child. Tinsel always fascinated me, so shiny and light. I loved the way it danced when you walked by.

  15. I love that vintage couple - they look like a lot of fun! How lucky you are to have such wonderful parents.

I had to make another 2 "Jane's snowmen" last night and I bought 2 cordial glasses at GW - they are so some are s&p shakers, some are candlesticks and then the cordials....I imagine they will be fighting over which is the cutest! - it's always fun to "stir up" the family when we are all together...tee-hee!!
