The first thing I noticed when I entered the store was the the abundance of bird related items.....bird's nests, eggs, birds, bird cages, bird plates and bird framed prints. I purchased a bird's nest ($4.00) but knew that one of my latest thrift store purchases would help me pull the rest of my look together.
I have a HUGE collection of frames I've purchased for family pictures and projects. Within that collection is a smaller collection of vintage swing frames. I love the look of these old swing frames and I will buy one when the price is right (usually around $5.00-$8.00). I have several displayed around my house with old family photos.
I picked out two of the frames, combined them with two of the bird prints, added the bird's nest I purchased at Nell Hills (sitting on a small pedestal I made from a glass plate and candlestick) and I now have a new spring vignette for a side table in my living room.
Jane

It looks great! I love the crystal bowl you have the nest on.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I love the prints and the frames you picked out.
ReplyDeleteLove the nest, Jane! What a great find with that book ~ the prints are great for framing. I'll bet you get a lot of projects out of it, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for beautiful prints!
ReplyDeleteLove your spring vignette! Those swing frames are great....I have several too and really love to use them....great post!

You certainly have a great eye, Jane. Really turned out unique and lovely. I also love your header picture. Did I forget to tell you that earlier?
ReplyDeleteLOVE those frames...I could never have birds in my hhome because my grandmother has always been superstitious - apparently she believes they bring bad luck when indoors. So whenever she sees a bird indoors, she WILL certainly find the relationship!! So, I don't want to push my luck!! Weird, huh? BUT I love yours!
ReplyDeleteWhat cool frames, now I know what they are called...swing frames. They look awesome with the bird prints and that cute nest.
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming vignette! The book was a real find and I love the vintage frames, too! I'd love to have a Nell Hill's nearby- fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird but I was never into birds until recently. I really love your framed photos of them. Something I'll have to try!
ReplyDeleteI never heard of a swing frame until now and you sure have plenty. You really know your stuff!! I love how the book pages turned out and how the nest brought out your creative side. I have two of the Nell Hill's decorating books. One I won from a blogger and is signed by the author and owner of the shops. Oooh!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great week, Jane! :-)

A wonderful way to didplay the Audubon prints...The vignette with the birds' nest is great!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous--I just adore little birds. Lately, I have been noticing a lot more robins flying around here. They are my little friends when I go outside. After viewing all your collections, I am just itching for yard sale and flea market season!
ReplyDeleteJane:
ReplyDeleteI love the nest and the repurposed frames. They whole assembly is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Looks awesome. I love the picture in the black swing frame with the older man and baby. Great picture!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so great together Jane!! I'm so jealous that you got to go to Nell Hill's. I would love to go there some day. I got to meet Mary Carol Garrity at the Atlanta show about 2 years ago, and she was just so lovely. She spent a lot of time with me showing me around and discussing decor ideas. She really knows her stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity of the bird pictures in the swing frames.
ReplyDeleteAnd love how clever you are!
It is SO cute! I love your frames!! I have actually never seen these in my ventures... I will need to keep a closer eye out!

This looks so nice. I love those old swinging frames too, but I only have one. I read recently that they're worth more if they still have the silver paint on them. I got mine years ago (I think I was about 20) and I remember working so hard to get that old paint off to refinish it. Wouldn't you know that would be the very thing to make them more valuable! Well, I wouldn't give mine up anyway :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
What a great find! And I LOVE your frame collection. I've not seen the swing frames in my area. But will certainly keep an eye out for them.

ReplyDeleteLovely vignette! I'm definitely up for some "nesting" around here, if I could get off my butt and actually do some of the stuff swirling around inside my head.
ReplyDeleteadorable - i love the look! and i love birds' nests -- i have a real crows nest sitting outside my front window- i love it seeing it daily whereas my neighbor freaks out about the germs that it must hold. it's all in the perspective, right?

ReplyDeleteWish I could make nests for that little.
Love it on the plate and candlestick.
Just something about elevating things makes them so much sweeter.
