Today is the first day of spring and this is what it looked like outside my back window this morning. Yes...it snowed 3" overnight and they're calling for another possible 4-6" throughout the day.
So today was a good day to watch some basketball and to put a little project together.
I found this egg holder at my local antique mall this week. From what I can gather you put an egg in the holder and lowered it into boiling water to soft or hard boil your egg. The handle made it easy to lift the egg from the water after it was properly boiled.
With Easter right around the corner I pictured this as a perfect holder for another one of my vintage Easter postcards and a decorative, painted egg.
Now....back to more basketball!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
Jane

I love your little egg holder vignette. It's beautiful with that lovely blue egg!
ReplyDeleteMum told me she got a bunch of snow overnight in WI, too. I didn't have the heart to tell her its 70º and sunny here. (oops! Sorry!)
Have fun inside today, my friend. I hope warm, sunny weather is just around the corner for you.
xoxo

Just lovely and oh so ready for Spring!!! I would have never known what this was if I saw it in a thrift ahoppe...now I will keep my eyes peeled for one:).
ReplyDeleteWe have snow today too....but we had a fabulous week so I do not mind a little more Winter.
Stay warm..the sunshine is on it's way...
Blessings~
I bought my first vintage Easter card the other day. They are just so cute. I like the clip earring. The perfect touch.

I guess I can't complain about the flurries we're having today, but I WILL, because it was in the 60s yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI would love to find one of those egg holders! I've never seen one before, but now I want one so that I can do what you did! Very cute, and I hope your snow melts quickly!
Happy Spring!
Carol
What a great display piece you made this, Jane! Love the card with the clip earring. We are, surprisingly, in the 70's today, but I'm sure we will be back to colder temperatures. I am enjoying it while it lasts though!
ReplyDeleteyou have the best ideas...oh, I am sooooo sick of basketball, with three kids playing, well the thrill is gone..lol
ReplyDeleteMy kind of project! Simple but cute. I really like that egg holder.
ReplyDeleteStay warm up there. I hate to tell about our beautiful day. You can tell me about your beautiful change of seasons that we don't have.
Enjoy the game!
Your view is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the snow....
I love your dressed up egg holder!
Super creative... as always!
Please come to my house and do your creative thing!

What a cute display! Love the earring used as a clip. As for the snow, we just got rid of ours and had SUN all day (not typical for Central NY) he best thing about snow in march is that it melts so quickly! Wishing you some warmth!
ReplyDeleteThat egg holder is a really cool find. As always, looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we don't have snow - no fun! But neither is picking 14 gazillion acorns out of my garden! They.are.everywhere!!!
Jane, we have about 5" and it's still snowing and blowing...some different than 48 hours ago, when it was 70°!
ReplyDeleteCool egg holder, it looks big enough to hold a couple eggs.
Snow!!! For Spring!!! I'm so jealous. Nothing would make me happier if it would snow here in Middle Mississippi...sigh...
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say, Jane, that as I read this post and saw the snow covering the ground (with the possibility of more to come) my face dropped with a look of doom. We've had several blizzards here in NJ this winter, and this is not a pretty sight to see in March for me right now!
ReplyDeleteI certainly am not trying to rub it in, but today was about 70 degrees here and sunny. Windows thrown open. A little bit of weeding in the yard. My kids playing outside--all day. Scooters. Bikes. Chalk. I even kept checking them to see if they were getting a sunburn! Your turn is coming. Stay warm.
Your view is beautiful...but I know you must be ready for warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever project...so cute. I have this same little egg thingy and hope you don't mind if I borrow your idea...hugs, Linda
Jane, First I want to tell you how much I love your family Easter picture header. I smile each time I see it. That egg holder is darling! BIG Kudos on such a simple project.

Hi Jane! It snowed all day here too, but it didn't really accumulate too much, just a dusting. Never the less it kept everyone inside, too cold to play without snow to keep you entertained! You are so clever... your egg display is wonderful! I never would have known what that egg holder was without an explanation. (ofcourse that never stopped me from turning it into something new!!! See you soon, Theresa
ReplyDeleteSweet little Easter display! Love your egg..the color is so cool.
ReplyDeleteBummer about your snow...it's all gone here. However that could change in a mintue here in MN!
Warmly,
Deb :)
oops...that's minute!!! I need spell check for my comments :) LOL !!!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the snow. It was 75 here today and sunny....I know, I know, I'm rubbing it in.
Spring is coming soon though, it really is!
Now that egg holder thingee is so dang cute. I love how you gussied-it-up. It's so sweet and you are so talented and sweet too.

How do you come up with these fabulous ideas?
ReplyDeleteI am just shaking my head!
This is the most perfect way of using the egg holder!!!!!
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Jane- love your vignette- that is a fun little egg holder! I am sitting here watching basketball, too- it is cold, but no snow here- (for MN in March that is great!)
ReplyDeleteThat is the same thing that we woke up to this morning too! I felt bad for the robins today.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cute... love it!
ReplyDeleteWe got some snow here too... yesterday. It was just cold today, thankfully not more snow! :)
~Jennifer
Very, very cute Jane. I've never seen an egg holder like this before, but I love the vintage look of it and you made such a wonderful vignette with it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
You really do find the most interesting items! I like the clip on earring trick you used! Did you see the KSU game? :-)
ReplyDeleteCan I please have one ounce of your imagination? Simple and yet so lovely! Wishing you a warm and wonderful day. Hope the snow clears soon. Many blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteANYTHING with a bit of color right now is always a cheery sight, and your beautiful blue egg hits the color craving!
ReplyDeleteWe also had some snow yesterday, but will be gone soon so it's no bother. We know warmer days are just around the corner!
Cute egg holder! Sending warm thoughts to help melt the snow!
ReplyDeleteOh, you definitely got more than we did...but I did hear the storm was tracking more south. It has to eventually be over, right? Love your blue egg, so beautiful! Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I seem to remember when I was a child they used something similar to dunk eggs down in the Easter dye...
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Jane!
ReplyDeleteWell, we had a week of beautiful weather and now the temps dropped and they are predicting snow tomorrow! ARGHHHH!
The little egg and bunny display is so cute. Very simple, very adorable.
Not much better here today. It has been raining all day. I love your little egg vignette. Love that suite case too. I have been on the hunt for some vintage luggage. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteWow, you find the coolest stuff! I love the shadow box thing you made. I don't know how I almost missed that post. I have never seen an egg holder like this. Must be really old. Once again, you've turned it into something great! Have a great week.
Debbie
I can't get enough of all your vignettes! Each one wows me even more - You always have such fun unique items! Thanks for sharing! Happy 'snowy' spring!
ReplyDeleteHi Jane, It's hard to believe you had snow again. That's crazy! Hopefully spring comes by soon! Great idea to use the egg holder for an Easter decoration!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Julia
Cute find Jane!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it and I LOVE how you set it up! You make great use of those snow days...even if it is really officially Spring!
(gosh, I hope the Easter Bunny doesn't have to borrow Santa's sleigh to get to your house)
;)
Have a wonderful week friend!!!!
You find such great stuff Jane. It looks wonderful. I was thinking about going and buying one of those wooden circles used to hold a dowel for a closet rod but then remembered those little glass things I had stored away.
ReplyDeleteI saw your comment at Carols. That Hoarders show is scary, especically when I think of all the odd things I hold on to for crafting!
Hugs,
Dawn
CUTE CUTE!! I am SO ready for Spring!! It has to be out there SOMEWHERE!!!
ReplyDeleteLou Cinda :)
