There's a party going on at Funky Junk Interiors. Donna is once again hosting her Saturday Nite Special link party and the theme this week is shelves.
I like to use nontraditional shelving when I can, utilizing some of my thrifty finds. Since my family doesn't have the same junkin' spirit that I have, most of these shelves are hanging in one room, my studio space.
I've posted most of these pictures before in several past posts, but since they were so fitting for tonight's link party I thought I would post them again.
My favorite piece is this antique wood cubby shelf.
This is an ever changing display shelf, showcasing favorite photos and collections.
My favorite piece is this antique wood cubby shelf.

Above the door an old wood mower handle became a shelf to display a collection of brass hose nozzles.
The width of the handle was a perfect size to display the nozzles.
This shelf serves a double purpose.....display and storage.
Extra storage was found by hanging an old letter/bill holder on the side.
And a shabby towel holder was added on the bottom to display a vintage doily.
A divided wood box was hung as a shelf for ribbon storage.
A shelf intended for spices became a storage shelf for beads, buttons and old game pieces.
Vintage wood levels became picture ledges for old family photos.

You have THE GREATEST SHELVES!!
ReplyDeleteBut I am not a bit surprised by that at all. =)
Very unique, and some great ideas. thanks for sharing!

Gail
Your studio is so you. All of the shelves are original, unique, incredibly cool, see? YOU!
ReplyDeleteI was just telling Duane that I could use shelves that go all the way to the ceiling to be able to be more organized in mine, I'm pretty sure he was thinking "or get rid of some of this junk"! That is one area that even if I set my timer for 15 minutes and kept resetting it, I'm pretty sure not much would leave the room!
Back to why I stopped by... I love all of you amazing shelf ideas! xoxo
Oh....thanks for the inspiration Jane! I have a shelf in my booth that needs to come out for a while and now I know what to do with it.

Since I'm a relatively new follower, this is my first time to see your shelves. As I looked at each picture, I thought 'oh this is my favorite thing"...and then I would see the next picture. I think I said that to myself for each one. Love nontraditional uses for things. If you've run out of wall space for more ideas, I have some walls you can use :)
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas, Jane! I like how you have thought out the small details, too. Love the old mower handle with spray nozzles and the vintage towel bar. I wish my craft area looked like this. To think... I could actually find things :) Looks great!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday!

Even thought your family doesn't have the same passion as you, I think it's wonderful that you display your "loves" for yourself. I think it's even better that you change things up, for yourself!
ReplyDeleteCreativity must just flow through your bones.

I don't know how I missed this before, but your shelves and display are wonderful. You've inspired me to get into my craft room (with a safety rope tied to my waist), to unearth and redisplay my treasures. Thank you and Happy New Year -- I'm wishing you both the very best.
ReplyDeleteI would be fighting my family to have some of this throughout the entire house....love your style.
ReplyDeleteThese are such great ideas!! I love that piece with the hose nozzles on it -- what a cool collection! I just bought an old level at an antique market while on vacation -- that too is a great way to use one of those!
