I have a new obsession.
Sugar bowls
(And if I'm lucky, the matching creamer).
I can't really explain the attraction.
Sometimes it's just love at first sight.
I probably don't need another collection, but at least they're small!
I'm joining Kathleen @ Faded Charm for White Wednesday
and Kim @ Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday.
Hope you're having a wonderful week.
Jane

I think that's why I like them, too, Jane! I tend to lean more toward the creamers though if I could only choose one. They are small and you could pretty much tuck them in anywhere. Plus, you can get a pattern you love and it's cheaper for those pieces than a plate or something bigger. These are great for using in the bathroom to hold Q-tips and cotton balls.
ReplyDeletePretty collection. My favorite is the one with the floral lid.

Me, too! Thanks for sharing your collection at Wow.
ReplyDeleteI have had a love for creamers for many years and now the sugar bowls have become special also. Just the shapes and colors, Oh MY! Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
I love your pretty little sugar bowls Jane. Now I just want to see the sweet way you display them...it is wonderful I'm sure.
ReplyDeletehugs from here...
I love your sugar bowls. I used to collect cream pitchers, but I've run out of room ;-)

I have the same obsession with creamers! Twyla
ReplyDeleteI just saw a sugar bowl at HomeGoods that was gorgeous. White with the most scrolley handles...but there was a chip...I was sad, but kinda glad. Lord knows...I didn't need it! I already have more creamers than a cow farm could use!!
ReplyDeleteThey're all so pretty, but the second-to-last is my favorite (who is that one made by?). Love the clean aesthetic. It looks like it could be either mid-century or contemporary.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, these sugar bowls are very attractive to my eyes. too. They look so posh, elegant and homey.
ReplyDeleteoh dear..Last year I sold off over 25 sets of white ironstone ones. I would have loved to give you some.. : (

How funny...I love the creamers. I have a few..none that match yours though. haha :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice collection going there. My favorite would have to be the bottom photo. That one reminds me of the one my grandma had on her kitchen table.
Love your collection - especially the red and white one.
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger
Very pretty Jane, love the brown set:@)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I really like the black and white one and the last one with flowers on the lid. I have a thing for cake stands...and I can't explain it..I don't even like cake!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are fascinated by them because they are so darn pretty. They are small enough to be beautiful little holders of things. I love the plain white or cream ones.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun thing to hunt for...these are so pretty...I'll be thinking of you when I go into the thrift shops and see these
ReplyDeleteI'm just sayin' that if I had sugar bowls that beautiful, I'd start a collection, too. Thanks for showing us the gorgeous bowls!
ReplyDeleteMary @ Redo 101
I'm with you - I love sugar bowls and creamers, too!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm drawn to them because they are so feminine, they remind my of the tea party that an elderly neighbor used to put together for her and I. Those days always made me feel so special. Thanks for jogging my memory, Jane! t.xoxo
ReplyDeleteThey are all so pretty. Sugar bowls are a very nice thing to collect. I don't like it though when I find one at a thrift shop and the lid is missing......
ReplyDeletePretties...and like you said they take up very little space...until you have hundreds! The brown transferware is Tonquin pattern?
ReplyDeleteTruly sweet! I just got my Great Grandma's out the other day...they are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection!!! I love the transferware bowls the best!!!
ReplyDeleteBecause they are so adorable! I happen to have a few of the creamers for the same reason. I rarely use them for actual cream but they do make cute little vases.
ReplyDeleteAnd they're so pretty! Here I am packing everything. And each thing I pack, I think: when did I start collecting this? But then, you are what you are. And you collect what you collect!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Jane, Just wanted to let you know that I have the creamer to your pretty pink flowered with gold trim sugarbowl.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty collection you have...so pretty. I just love the brown transferware.
ReplyDeleteThat brown transfer one is gorgeous, I think it is my favorite but it's a close one between it and the red one.
ReplyDeleteLisa
You know, there IS something about sugar bowls! The first vintage piece I ever bought, as a young girl, was a sugar bowl!
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have a wonderful collection going here.
Blessings,
linda
What a lovely collection! I like sugar bowls too! Especially that blue and white one in the first photo!
ReplyDeleteIt is really lovely and beautifull porcellain. My favourite is the one white and blue sugar bowl.
ReplyDeleteNice day
Jana
A very nice collection. We have some pieces with the same patterns (different colors. I have a thing for pitchers and I may have to blog about them. If I do, or rather, when I do, I will link back to you for providing the inspiration. Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! Jen
ReplyDeleteYou have a really pretty collection. I used to collect creamers and like you felt lucky if I found the sugar bowl too. Mine are mostly white, but love your variety. Maybe I'll have to broaden my search.
