I walked into my dining room this morning and the light was perfect for a little impromptu photo shoot on the buffet. I grabbed some random objects that were on the buffet (at the moment the buffet is nothing more than a storage surface) and started shooting.
And just in case you were curious, this is how random the buffet looks at the moment.
I found the old wood piece at an antique store and paid $2.00 for it. I'm pretty sure they thought I was crazy but I think it makes a perfect backdrop for photos.
Happy Leap Year Day!
Jane

Funny - not the photos! The photos are awesome. Funny that I thought you had a r-e-a-l-l-y rustic buffet, until I saw the last shot! You have a way of making everything look great.
ReplyDeleteRandom works wonders for you Jane!

ReplyDeleteYour photos are always so beautiful and these are no exception! Love the old wood - full of character!

ReplyDeleteYou are so right Jane about the old wood!Love the potatoe mashers in the background,I remember seeing them in use as a child, either my late Mother or Grandmother must have used them,I think they would be a handy self defence implement now!
ReplyDeleteI love the old wood piece and you are right it is perfect. When I saw the first pic I thought no way she has a buffet of weathered wood like that!
ReplyDeleteJane,
ReplyDeleteI always second guess myself about those kind of things.
In the long run, it's $2.00 well spent!! Great back drop
for those pieces you have there :)
It's snowing in NY. now more blog hopping is in order!

It may be random, Jane, but it works! I love all the elements you have here ~ fabric, wood, ceramic, natural elements in the acorns, glass; I think as different as they all seem they all work together beautifully. Great brown and white transferware. The brown and white is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI love all these pieces together, they may be random, but it works!

Absolutely gorgeous pictures Jane. Yes the light was working for you!
ReplyDeleteNormally, I am not a fan of brown, BUT this is the second time today that I found brown very appealing to me. I'm traveling to Pittsburgh for work. I started feeling hungry and realized I was near the exit for Pittsburgh Mills, what a coincidence ;-) Anyway, wandering through Penney's in the purse section, I found a stunning chocolate brown purse with silver embellishments. Normally brown is accented with gold; I don't like gold so I rarely even consider a brown handbag. BUT, this shade of chocolate was just gorgeous with the silver and now, your brown & white transfer ware has me liking brown again...amazing. Thanks for sharing the great photos, Jane, you have a gift. OH, the purse was Liz Claiborne, $70.00, way out of my purse price range, darn it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. You have such a knack.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I love it when the light is just right! hugs, Linda

ReplyDelete$2 well spent.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful impromptu photo shoot Jane and I love the $2 purchase.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, Jane. I'm absolutely loving your blog!!! I just about fell off my chair when I saw the first two pictures though. I own an antique store and had a customer come in just this morning looking for pieces with that exact pattern, in that colour. It's not a pattern that I see often - in fact I only recall ever seeing two pieces myself. What are the chances that you would post pictures of those pieces on the same day that I'm asked for them? Awesome. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures look worthy for a magazine spread Jane. I love those treasured pieces.
ReplyDeleteI passed up a brown transferware plate with a "cow scene" at a local shop last week. I think your post is telling me to go back and buy it.....if it's still there!! Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteLove the transfer ware especially in brown. Those acorns are so cute. We only get the long skinny kind.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy day. Lisa
Perfect light!
ReplyDeleteThe browns and whites look great. You know how to bring out the best in even the smallest details.
Your random is awesome...beautiful photographs!
ReplyDeleteLove the acorns!
That wood piece does look fantastic in photos! I love all your lovely brown transferware pieces. Did you decide what color to re-paint the walls?
ReplyDeleteOh Jane, you know how to reel us transferware junkies in...gorgeous pieces and love your wondeful photos!!
ReplyDeleteThe wood piece really does pull everything together beautifully!

I just spent two days reading ALL of your posts. I was so drawn to all of your projects that I had to see them all. Now I have to go through all of my garage sale boxes and rethink what I want to sell. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have wanted to rent a booth for several years. It is way out of my comfort zone. Any advice? Wish I could go thrifiting with you. We would have a great time. Take care.
The top of your buffet may be random but it is gorgeous.
