I stopped by the Dollar Tree store today and found these fun star shaped tablecloth weights.
The stars are metal with a clip on the top.
I'm sure these work great for their intended purpose but I had a few other ideas for them.
I removed the clips from several of the stars and replaced them with ball chain.
Instant wine glass charms!
I attached three more stars to a jewelry finding (found at Hobby Lobby) for a fun 4th of July necklace.
This vintage metal was bulked up with one of the blue stars.
Three stars were hung to a broken chair piece that sits in a flower pot on my front porch.
When the wind blows I have a little wind chime.
A key chain.......
a book mark........
a flag inspired decoration.........
and with a simple ribbon added, a decorative addition to an old bottle or a piece of ironstone.
And a bonus........all of the clips I removed from the stars,
will be used to hang more of my vintage trims.
The stars are a great buy.......4 stars in a package for $1.00!
Definitely thrifty so I'm linking with Linda @ Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!
Have a wonderful evening.
Jane

So glad to see you back Jane. I love the way you organize and display your trims-makes them easy to remember what you have. I have mine in a box, albeit a pretty box-I always forget what I have! (Note: add rulers to "must have" list)

ReplyDeleteJane, I'm rather new at this blog and Pinterest thing. I "pinned" your trims/ruler idea in my Storage file on one of my boards. I did give you credit in the comments section. Is that the correct way to give you credit? I didn't see a Pinterest button. If I've done this incorrectly, I will take it off--just wanted to make sure and give you credit.

Anyways I wanted to express my heartfelt sadness to you as I just read about your husband's death earlier this year. I remember reading once on your blog that he had ALS and I would often think of the two of you and wonder how you were doing. I wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
